Requiem Meeting Dedicated to the 40th Anniversary of the Chernobyl Tragedy
2026-04-26

On April 26, a requiem meeting dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster took place on the grounds of the Church of the Holy Archangel Michael near the monument to the liquidators of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant accident. Representatives of the city government, liquidators, and representatives of public organizations gathered to honor the memory of the victims. Bishop Ambrose of Borisov and Maryinogorsk celebrated a prayer service for the victims. We bow our heads in memory of the Chernobyl disaster—a lesson about the fragility of peace and the cost of mistakes. The disaster reminded us of the value of peace—fragile, but necessary. May the skies above us always be clear, free from fear and destruction. May they bring life. Let us remember, cherish peace, and work to ensure that the skies above us are always peaceful!
